DENALI NATIONAL PARK
We flew with Talkeetna Air Taxi over Mount Denali (also known as Mount McKinley), the highest mountain peak in North America. It is impossible to put into words the grandeur of the park which is so inaccessible by foot or car, enabling it to maintain a pristine condition rarely found in our current world. I shot these photos on my Pentax K1000 mostly from the ski plane we flew as well as a glacier that we landed on.
KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK
MCCARTHY
Positioned deep in the largest national park in the US, McCarthy is a mining town that operated from 1911-1938 before being almost entirely unoccupied until the 1970’s when travelers and workers began to re-establish it as a base to access Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Despite being one of the most isolated towns in the U.S, it’s access to Root Glacier made it easily worth the trip.
